Voice Control for your iPad

You have collected your courage, took a deep breath and in the jail broken your iPad. If you not sure how to do, take a look at one of our earlier posts here on iPad.net. Now your is IOS free of the pastern, are boundless opportunities his freedom.

You must have Cydia on your IOS already installed. There are countless things then jail-broken can do with one, but many of them a little technical know-how. Today I will give you the insider information, how you your iPad responds to voice to gain control.

This is one for iPad 3 g hack. Other Apple devices like the iPhone 3 g and iPod touch already boast voice control technology. It may well be that the updated iOS4 for iPad will include this ability, but there is no evidence in any of Apple’s press releases, sees it as you can yourself to do. Here’s how:

1. Open Cydia, locate ‘OpenSSh’, install and reboot your iPad;
2. Use your 3G to connect to your computer, making sure iTunes is closed;
3. Download the SFTP and FTP client to access your iPad system files from: Cyberduck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows;
4. Run the clients depending to your MAC or Windows platform, then enter the log-in details on your iPad.

Log-in Details from WinSCP for Windows:

  • Hostname: The IP address of your iPad
  • User Name: root
  • Password: alpine
  • Protocol: SCP

Log-in Details from Cyberduck:

  • Server: The IP address of your iPad
  • Username: root
  • Password: alpine
  • Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)

5. Log in to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
6. Use TextEdit editor to open file K48AP.plist. When the file is open in TextEdit, add the lines highlighted in the above picture: voice-control
7. Save then close the app
8. Reboot your iPad and you should now have voice control on your iPad.
9. To activate voice control features on your iPad, hold down the home button until the voice control screen pops up.
10. To make sure your voice control is calibrated to iPad, go to /System/Library/VoiceServices/PlugIns/Base.vsplugin/English.Iproj, then open ‘Help.strings’, change everything that says ‘iPod’ to ‘iPad’.
11. Voice control should work perfectly on your iPad.
