iPod, by Albel.

Downloading songs to your iPod is very simple once you learn the method. A prior know-how of iTunes is essential to download songs to iPod player. You can either purchase them or search for the sites which give you the tunes for free. Given below is an easy-to-follow procedure for downloading the songs onto your iPod.

  • Connect the iPod player to the computer via USB connector/port. However, if you’re connecting for the first time, your iTunes should prompt you to automatically sync your iPod when you’re connected.
  • Install ITunes on your computer if it isn’t yet installed. You can download iTunes software (which is free from Apple) or install it from an installation CD packaged with your iPod.
  • Upload CD tracks onto your iPod – When you insert a disk, a playlist comes up along with the option to import the tracks. The computer will then prompt you if you want to import the tracks into iTunes. Click yes, which will add the compact disk’s tracks to your music library.
  • Reiterate the above step for each CD you desire to add to your iPod.

ITunes Music Store has an amazing selection of music. It costs $0.99 cents per track, while whole album usually cost about $9.90 USD. There are other programs (albeit illegal) that allow you to download music to your iTunes, such as Limewire and MyTunes Redux. When you connect your iPod to your computer (you should have a USB cable), your iPod will automatically sync with your iTunes.

For downloading songs into iPod, one has to know about the iTunes. When the iTunes software is opened you will be able to see a multitude of options. When you click the iTunes store you will be able to view many songs and many more options like favorite television show, movie trailers, live concert recording etc.

You can choose anything from the list to download to one’s own iTunes library. The purchase price for this list varies from one topic to another. The home page of the store has the most popular free items and offers links to download them by yourself.

When download has been completed you can either put it on the device directly or you can create a play list. A play list is a better option if you have many downloaded items and are in need of proper organizing the downloaded items so that it is easier to search what you want to hear. You can create your own playlist with the help of the icons found at the bottom of the iTunes library screen.

When you have completed creating your playlist or making the list of the things to be downloaded to your iPod then you have to plug in your device to the computer. You have to make sure that the iPod’s battery is fully charged .If it is not so then it might take a few minutes until the computer recognizes the iPod. When the iPod icon pops up on the library menu on the left hand side then it is time for you to start download the playlist and other downloads.

If your iPod is set to automatically sync with iTunes it will begin to download everything you have purchased. However, if you want to select what you have to download and not want it to be automatic then you have to just click on the “Manage Music Manually” in the Summary Tab. Once you have clicked it you will be able to choose what you put on your iPod and what you want to leave on iTunes for later downloads.

You should not detach the iPod from the computer until you have downloaded everything needed. Once the download is completed then use the “Eject” function on the iTunes program and remove the iPod from the USB.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set up the iPod on the computer you plan to use it on. An iPod set up with a Macintosh will need to have all the songs removed in order to use it on a Windows operating system. This only needs to be done once if you toggle between computers. To make it simpler, use the iPod on a single dedicated computer.
  • The iPod should be detached from the computer correctly to avoid problems or loss of. Always click the “Eject” button next to the iPod icon in iTunes, or in the lower, right-hand corner of the desktop. If you quit iTunes on Mac operating system, drag the iPod icon on your desktop to the trash to eject. For Windows operating system, right click on the iPod icon on your desktop.
