The World’s Most Customisable iPad iPhone Cases

iPad, iPhone, by Albel.

The Apple iPad is expanding the tablet computer market and taking it from the niche geek realm into the mainstream, with over 12 million expected to be sold this year it is certainly living up to the hype. If you’ve splashed out on an iPad and are now thinking that the available cases are a bit bulky and generic, then 2 entrepreneurs in Newcastle, UK, might have just the case for you.

Simon Barker and Leonie Cunnington, both doctoral students at the University of Newcastle, Slotzz launched a company to measure, cases, hand tailored to the individual customer. Barker bought the IPAD when he was freed and Cunnington soon saw that none of the cases available quite fitted the bill in terms of design and functionality. She is now Slotzz jacket, a protective sleeve-style case of IPAD. The cases are made from a range of denim outers and cotton pads, including freedom of designer fabrics and Harlequin.

Cunnington says: “We use stylish denims for a protective outer and luxurious cotton linings to keep the iPad snuggly in the case.”

Not only that, but they have gone a step further by offering customers the choice of 10 outers,  9 linings, over 10 thread colours with a range of pockets that can go on the outside of the case. With all that choice it’s no wonder the pair launched under the slogan “The most customizable iPad case in the world”.

Cunnington said: “The cases can have a range of pockets on them, from a single large pocket to hold anything, to ones that hold an iPhone, pens and business cards. ”

Feedback from their first customers has prompted them to swiftly launch a similar iPhone case with the same material and thread choices as the larger iPad case. Based in the Greenesfield Business Center, in Gateshead, the company aims to establish themselves as a brand in the iDevice market and grow from there.

“The feedback we get is great, so we listened and responded with an iPhone case. We hope to grow the company this way, listening to our customers and providing just what they want.”

Focus in this company certainly seems to be on the customer, from the initial design choices through to listening to feedback, the pair are putting customers back at the center of the retail experience and making people something truly unique and of great quality. Barker said: “We love seeing what unique creations people make, we’ve not produced any duplicate cases so far!”

They sell through their website, www.slotzz.co.uk, but will also be at the Hardwick Hall Christmas Fair in Sedgefield,12th- 14th November, if you want a closer look.
