Sync iMac to iPhone

iPhone, MAC Tips, by Albel.

You can sync an iMac computer and Apple’s iPhone using a data cable. Syncing will adjust the information on the smartphone so that it matches the information on your iMac. You can set your sync settings on your iMac once so it will automatically adjust any necessary information whenever you connect your iPhone to the computer.

1. Connect your iPhone to your iMac with the data cable that came with your phone. The program iTunes will automatically open.

2. Select the iPhone device from the iTunes menu on the left-hand side of the screen. The menu is vertical, and plugged-in devices are usually under the “Library” section. The sync settings menu will come up in the main screen of iTunes.

3. Move through each pane in the iTunes sync menu to adjust your settings. You can select “Contacts,” “E-Mail” and “Calendar” settings to sync those items. You can also select the “Web Browser” pane to sync your bookmarks saved on your iMac with your iPhone. In addition, you can sync your pictures, ringtones and videos. Once you adjust the settings, they will automatically sync when you plug in the phone in the future.

4. Select “Sync” from the main sync menu in iTunes. Wait for the iMac to sync to your iPhone. There is a progress bar at the bottom of the menu.

5. Close iTunes. Drag the iPhone icon to the trash and then remove the data cable to unplug the phone.
