Mac OS X Server 10.6.5 Replaced With 1.1 Version

MAC OS, by Albel.

When you’re under as much scrutiny as Apple, even the smallest change or briefest of retractions is bound to provoke comment, so it was no surprise that when Apple briefly pulled the Mac OS X Server 10.6.5 update was briefly pulled yesterday, it almost immediately raised questions about what was going on.

Not to fear, though: it’s now back online with a 1.1 version number, available for download from Apple Support or by hitting up Software Update.

Why was it pulled and replaced? According to Apple, the new Mac OS X Server 10.6.5 Update 1.1 fixes a memory aliasing issue in Dovecot’s handling of usernames.

That’s not the only bug that Mac OS X Server 10.6.5 had, of course: problems with encryption, remote connections and DNS resolutions have also been reported.

Those may have been fixed to, but if so, Apple’s being mum about it. Anyone experience any of those issues who can let us know if they’re fixed in the 1.1 update? Tell us in the comments.
