iTunes 10.1 to Drop Today, iOS 4.2 on Friday?
Itunes, by Albel.
Sources of MacStories have informed them that Apple will release final version of iTunes 10.1 along with Mac OS X 10.6.5 today, followed by the next major update of iOS (version 4.2) for iPhones, iPods and iPads on Friday, November 12, 2010. The arrival of OS X 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 before iOS 4.2 makes sense because they are required by iOS 4.2’s AirPrint and AirPlay functionalities.
According to our source, 10.6.5 completed the certification stage a few hours ago and iTunes was ready 3 weeks ago — likely after the release of beta 2 to developers.
AT&T staff is required to thoroughly test all Apple mobile devices that are intended to use their networks and test them in their intended environments that include using Macs with versions Apple deems necessary to properly fulfill new test products.
Earlier this week, a German blog named iFun discovered an Apple branded carrier updates link which revealed the release date of iOS 4.2 as Friday, November 12 2010 as seen in the screenshot below.

As always, we will notify you as soon as iOS 4.2 is available for public consumption. Stay tuned for that !
