You know that saying not located a melody in a bucket to carry? Yes, now I know not even a bucket. If you tortured imagine the sound of a giraffe, while his hooves a chalk board are raked and you might start an idea of which, how bad I am a singer. So it is with some trepidation, I decided to write Smule’s glee karaoke application, but hey, I’ll try anything, or?
The app is basically their small hand held karaoke machine, only not to a bar or have your karaoke night in the comfortable privacy of your own home to go disco! But that doesn’t mean that you sing alone, no. Glee karaoke can all your songs and share them with your friends on Facebook or Twitter, or even broadcast to listen to the entire interwebs for the whole world.
The app is colorful, and themed around the hit show Glee, of course, which I’m told is popular, or something. You can buy songs directly from the app and they’re usually the standard iTunes price of $0.99 which isn’t too bad, or you can sing along to any of the tunes you have on your phone already. Although if you chose one of your own songs from your phone’s library, the app doesn’t seem to be able to pull the lyrics down from the ether for you, which is kind of a bummer and really put a damper on my attempt at Metallica’s Enter Sandman, let me tell you.
If one along the app (usually) singing shows the text for you and down at the bottom of the screen it shows a Visual real time feedback display that helps you to stay or not as the case may be. It tracks such as “good” sound and you can even awards points and levels, you are to “Gleeks ‘ to compare all over the world.” I however do not share my own shots with anyone and delete them from my phone, as soon as I review and may my mobile phone in one threw only large, hot fire, make sure that no records of these are acoustic nightmares finish and everywhere.
The community aspect of the app is actually pretty impressive. From the main menu you can choose to listen in on other Gleeks from all over the world as they broadcast their performances to the web. The screen, shown below, is a really cool animated globe with virtual ‘radio stations’ sprouting up wherever someone is broadcasting. You can tune in to listen and even make comments; it’s like the whole planet is your very own karaoke bar!
It is easy to use, sing along are simply a title from and in seconds. Now is the application adds a little Hall and tweaks your sound voice to help a bit better, or do you think sound better, but we all know hey that they wonder with engineer right these days? Regardless of the application is only $0.99 and could you singing hours joy, or stop to sing about five minutes before my girlfriend told me, in my case or find a new place to live. If you’re in karaoke, I would definitely give this a try!
