Automatically Log In iMac

MAC Tips, by Albel.

If you have more than one user account on the iMac, you will automatically see a log-in window when you start up the computer. This log-in window includes links for every user account. But you can use System Preferences to set one account for the computer to log in automatically. When using automatic log-in, you are still able to log into other user accounts by logging out.

1. Click the “Apple” menu, select “System Preferences” and click the “Accounts” icon.

2. Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and enter an administrator name and password.

3. Click the “Login Options” button.

4. Set the “Automatic login” pull-down menu to the desired user. Enter the password for that account and click “OK.”

5. Click the red circle button in the upper left corner of the “Accounts” window to close it. The iMac automatically logs in to the selected account the next time it starts up.
